Expansion, renovation and interior design
Anna Birra, Alessia Campana
The project involves the expansion and renovation of the Kindergarten in Laces, a historic building from 1930. The kindergarten occupied the ground floor and was partially basement due to the natural slope of the land. The new design is based on a pedagogical concept that promotes open and communicative spaces. The expansion consists of a single-story volume attached to the historic building on the south side. The facade of the new building is divided into three sections to better integrate with the surroundings. The heart of the building is a transition space that connects various functions, including classrooms, administration, multipurpose rooms, and the cafeteria. A central skylight illuminates the area, while the classrooms are directly connected to the garden, with glass walls that enhance visibility and communication between the spaces.
