Renovation and enhancement of a historic residential building
Dario Alberti, Giada Dadomo, Carlo D'Alberti
The project concerns the renovation and functional upgrading of a private residence in Avelengo called “Die Ruh,” meaning “tranquillity,” located in an isolated and panoramic setting. The building, constructed before 1980, was renovated only once by the mother of the current owner. The intervention aims to preserve the original character while improving living quality, safety, and functionality. No volume increases were planned; instead, the project focuses on enhancing the existing architectural and landscape features. The interior spaces were reorganized, with the introduction of a new staircase and new windows for the attic. A garage was created on the basement level, harmoniously integrated using local materials such as wood and stone. On the ground floor, the project includes a new entrance and minor adjustments. On the upper floor, the number of bedrooms was reduced from four to three in order to enlarge the bathrooms and improve the overall functionality and living quality of the building.
